Creating an “Online Ramp” for conferences – your ideas/suggestions encouraged

by

AusForesight 2006′s online event registration process invited participants to provide a small bio on what they do and what they hope to get out of the conference.  This was a great device because it offered a ‘virtual introduction’ to attendees in the lead up to the event.

If there is to be an AusForesight 2007, I’d like to see the ‘Online Ramp’ aspect of the event grow from a series of bios to an online conversation that facilitates great offline conversations at the conference.

Are there existing online spaces/forums created for futurists that might act as a forum in the lead up to a possible AusForesight 2007? If there aren’t, I’m considering setting up an online forum using VBULLETIN for futurists to meet, but I don’t want to re-invent the wheel.

Besides an online forum, are there examples you know of that help make the lead-up to conferences successful?

All suggestions are welcome and appreciated!
